Mark Satov

Managing Partner

Mark is a business advisor who pushes his clients to do better. His early entrepreneurial background and consulting stint at Bain & Company has helped shape Canada’s leading boutique consultancy that business leaders trust today. Mark has experience across a range of industries, most notably retail and consumer goods, loyalty programs, and business services including marketing services. Mark regularly acts as a facilitator for our clients where he’s known for his ability to manage tough discussions, from strategic planning to re-organizations.

Mark is a frequent commentator on business media, including BNN, The Globe and Mail, Yahoo Finance and the CBC, providing his views on business events and trends.

A firm believer in giving back to the communities in which he works and lives, Mark lends his time to a range of important causes, including Food Allergy Canada, The School of Social Entrepreneurs of Ontario, West Neighborhood House and Help for Children.

Sam Puchala

Partner

Sam has been with SATOV for the past fifteen years and has advised clients across a broad range of industries most notably insurance and wealth management, as well as healthcare. Sam brings a deep analytical approach to our work, removing the guesswork for our clients with quantified insights that are the foundation of our strategic recommendations.

Sam has extensive experience in commercial due-diligence, customer segmentation, pricing and channel strategy.

Carolyn Stark

Senior Manager, Transformation

Carolyn started her career at SATOV in 2013 while receiving her MBA from Rotman. She has worked in a range of industries, most notably consumer and home services, telecommunications and insurance. Carolyn’s specialty is managing projects that include implementing strategic recommendations, managing complex change programs and transforming operating models and cultures.

Will Falk

Senior Advisor, Healthcare

Will brings over 25 years of experience in Canada and US, advising top academic medical centres, governments and innovative companies in healthcare . Will advises our clients as they acquire and operate healthcare companies.

Will is an Adjunct Professor at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and a Senior Fellow at the CD Howe Institute.

Will is known for his thought leadership on the impacts of technological change on health systems and their governance and payment mechanisms. He works with enterprises on digital health and software development including as an Innovation Fellow at Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care. He has been a Board Director or Advisor for local and national charities, startups, health systems and publicly listed companies.

Will received his B.Sc. from the University of Toronto (Trinity College) and an M.P.P.M. from Yale University’s School of Management where he was later a Visiting Research Fellow.

Andy Spears

Senior Advisor, Financial Services 

Andy is a Financial Services senior advisor at SATOV.  He brings over 20 years of financial services experience as a consultant, operating executive and entrepreneur.  Prior to joining SATOV, he was a Managing Director of Novantas, the VP Channel Management for Presidents Choice Financial at CIBC and the CEO of NewCan where he focused on bringing a new banking model to Canada.  Andy spent his early consulting career at Bain & Company and Mitchell Madison Group.

Andy brings deep financial services experience having advised financial institutions in Canada, US and UK. His expertise includes retail banking strategy, distribution, product design, fintech pricing and consumer research.

Andy graduated from Yale University with a Master’s in Public and Private Management and from the University of Toronto with a B.A.

Alan Huth

Senior Advisor, Supply Chain 

Alan is a Supply Chain senior advisor at SATOV.  He brings over 25 years of experience driving operations improvement including logistics, supply chain optimization, and cost and complexity reduction.  Alan began his consulting career at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting and also worked at PWC. He has also held engineering, management, and executive positions prior to moving into consulting.

Alan brings significant project experience across numerous industries including manufacturing, healthcare products, food & beverage, chemical and consumer goods.

Alan received an MBA in Operations, Finance and Marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from California State University.

Salman Ahmad

Consultant

Salman’s project experience includes commercial due diligence, corporate growth strategy, and loyalty transformation. He has worked across several industries including retail, manufacturing, and power generation. His past work experience entailed working at a telecommunications company and a professional services firm. Salman holds a BBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Outside of work, he enjoys playing various sports, video games, and board games. He also loves watching new shows and movies and has a recently-found passion for travelling.

Louise Sherman

Project and Process Specialist

Louise is a business process and project management professional with a unique ability to drive operational and organizational change. She holds an MBA from Queen’s university, is a PMI-certified Project Management Professional and has a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Louise began her career at the Royal Bank of Canada where she was responsible for the process redesign and automation of the bank’s global banking infrastructure. After leaving the bank, she spent over a decade undertaking several successful entrepreneurial ventures.

Louise began at SATOV Consultants in 2004 and has since been working at the firm on and off. She specializes in process engineering, project management and post-merger integration across financial services, healthcare and business services sectors.

Kevin Silberberg

Senior Analyst

Kevin’s project experience includes quantitative retail forecasting and commercial due diligence. Internally, he supports SATOV’s analytics practice by leading machine learning training sessions and developing web scraping tools to enhance research techniques. He holds an HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

Outside of work, he mentors undergraduate students in statistics and math. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the city, diving into new technology and developing models to optimize various aspects of his life.

Natasha Raffa

Senior Analyst

Natasha’s project experience includes corporate growth strategy and commercial due diligence. She has worked in various industries including retail, IT and manufacturing. Internally she supports SATOV’s financial services practice. Natasha has an Honours Financial Mathematics degree and a BBA from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. She loves spending time in the kitchen with new recipes and getting outdoors to stay active.

Adam Kovalcik

Analyst

Adam’s project experience includes corporate strategy. Prior to joining SATOV he worked in financial services. He holds an HBA from the Ivey Business School and a BESc in Software Engineering at Western University. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, exercising and sports, and learning about the newest technology developments.

Carson Rorai

Analyst

Carson’s project experience includes commercial due diligence. Prior to joining SATOV he launched an auto detailing company which quickly expanded to servicing approximately 1800 clients and employing over twenty full-time students during its first two summers. Carson holds an HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University. He loves sports, specifically hockey and basketball, and enjoys staying active and listening to music in his spare time.

Evan Fulford

Analyst

Evan previously worked in wealth management and accounting before joining SATOV. He holds an HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University. In his spare time Evan enjoys travelling, sports, and spending time with his dachshund Shopsy

Ethan Birbrager

Analyst

Prior to joining SATOV Ethan worked at a Toronto based private equity firm. He graduated with an HBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University. Outside of work, Ethan enjoys following sports, travelling and spending quality time with family and friends.

Tony Copperthwaite

Controller

Tony has been part of the senior management team at SATOV since 2008 and brings over 30 years of senior management and leadership experience to his role as Controller.  Having honed his skills in both multinational corporations and private companies, Tony is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations at SATOV, including finance, accounting, legal, HR and technology.

As an entrepreneurial, results-oriented and dynamic executive, Tony is an invaluable member of the senior management team. With his persuasive, energetic leadership style, he can always be counted on to ‘get it done’. Tony possesses business expertise in an array of industries including telecommunications, manufacturing, automotive and publishing.

Tony spends significant time giving back to the community. In addition to being a long-time volunteer with Scouts Canada, Tony is currently President of the Kiwanis Club of Mississauga and an Advisor to Key Club Mississauga, where he supports youth programs, including specialty Scout camps for youth with Autism.
